The Opera Projects for Undergraduate Singers (OPUS) is a Northwestern University undergraduate opera student coalition, putting on operas for students by students. We produce, direct, and cast entirely undergraduate singers in our productions, usually doing two shows a season and under the guidance of faculty advisors Pamela Hinchman and Jason Carlson. OPUS productions are open to all undergraduate students regardless of major and non-voice majors are especially encouraged to audition and participate in our productions.
OPUS provides artistic opportunities for undergraduates by putting on operatic productions that all undergraduates can participate in. It gives undergraduate students experience with singing, stagecraft, dance, set design, and production. OPUS also makes a positive environment for collaboration, connecting students with like-minded individuals interested in music theater performance. OPUS strives to make opera easy and accessible for students at Northwestern. All OPUS productions are non-ticketed and presented to the audience free-of-charge.
OPUS holds auditions over the summer before our fall production and over winter break before our winter production. Audition repertoire depends on the show, so please check your Northwestern email for more information. Contact us via Instagram or email if you have any questions.
